We share a lifelong passion for Irish Dance here at Pacific Irish Dance, a passion that is the driving force behind everything we do at the school. We have a team of teachers who have come together not only for their love of Irish dancing but because of a shared ethos behind teaching and a well rounded knowledge of the dance style.

TEACHING
TEAM

We believe strongly in promoting Irish Dance and maintaining the traditions of the dance form more broadly. As such, all of our registered teachers maintain active participation in the Victorian Branch of The Australian Irish Dance Association, The Australian Irish Dance Association and An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha. We also take the protection of children very seriously and ensure all teachers maintain current Victorian Working with Children Checks.

Charmayne's dance journey now stretches over 25 years, training in a variety of styles including Irish, Ballet, Jazz and Tap from childhood through to her adult years.  As a child, she was inspired by the launch of Riverdance in the 90's and began Irish Dancing with the Simpson Academy of Irish Dancing in Canberra, ACT.

Charmayne moved to Canada in 2007 to dance for one of the world’s Irish dancing greats, Rose Fearon ADCRG at The Butler Fearon O’Connor Irish Dancing school in Toronto. It was here, under Rose’s tutelage, that Charmayne derived her own clear vision of the Irish dance art form, a vision that would later become her guiding star as a teacher. After a successful competitive dance career at a State, National and International level, Charmayne hung-up her competitive shoes in 2011 after successfully sitting her TCRG examination.

In 2012, Charmayne founded Mayne Irish Dance igniting an Irish dance community in Sunbury and the surrounding areas. She quickly expanded it's classes into the state of the art facilities at Ministry of Dance in North Melbourne and began providing workshops in solo and ceili (team) choreography to the wider Irish dance community in Adelaide and country Victoria. Over the years, she has remained committed to supporting and developing the dance community with active involvement in the Australian Irish Dance Association and main stream dance industries.

In 2018, Charmayne was successfully awarded her Adjudicator qualification (ADCRG)

Outside of the school, Charmayne is also a tireless volunteer for the greater Irish Dancing community and sits on the Victorian Branch of the Australian Irish Dancing Association (AIDA Victoria).

Samarah started dancing at the age of 4 at the Miller School of Irish Dancing in her hometown of Adelaide under Jackie Miller TCRG. She danced with Miller for 18 years, competing at a State, National and International level and trained in Ireland, England and America.

During her time at the Miller School she grew into a leadership and student teacher role at the school and here found her passion for teaching. During her teenage years she also received a series of workshops conducted by Charmayne, where their professional relationship and friendship first started.

After moving to Melbourne in 2016, Samarah joined Mayne Irish Dance, and commenced assisting Charmayne and Jared with classes. Samarah has also returned to participate in competitive ceili dancing to assist with her Irish dancing teachers exam study. Samarah was successful in her TCRG exams in November 2017.

Outside of the school, Samarah sits on the Victorian Branch of the Australian Irish Dancing Association (AIDA Victoria) and is an active member and advocate for the AIDA Inc. Ethics Committee.
